A director at Bayern talks about summer transfers

In an official press conference, Bayern (Munich) CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen spoke about current topics at the club such as the possible transfers of Harry Kane, Kim Min-jae and Kyle Walker, the situation with Sadio Mane and the imminent return of Manuel Neuer. Both additions were officially presented - Konrad Leimer (from RB Leipzig) and Rafael Guerreiro (Borussia Dortmund).

Dreesen praised the new players in the team: "We wanted Konrad and Rafael a lot. Both have played for a long time at their previous clubs. That's exactly what we need: identification with the club. Connie is very strong in martial arts and is dedicated. Rafa, on the other hand, has incredible efficiency and makes a lot of assists." Regarding the possible transfer of Harry Kane, Dreesen said: "It's no secret that we have a serious interest in him. Everything Uli Hoeness said is true, but it's best for us to stick to what the coach said. Grass doesn't grow faster when you pull it."

As for Kyle Walker, the director said: “He's a player at another club. I would take the same position as our coach and say that we do not comment on players of other clubs. We only say something when the time comes." On the almost certain signing of Kim Min-jae from Napoli, Dreesen added: "He is an exciting player. We want him to join us. I can't announce anything yet. I hope that this will happen in the coming days."

Regarding the futures of Leon Goretzka and Sadio Mane as well as the return of Manuel Neuer, the director replied: "They are both Bayern players at the moment. Leon did not have a satisfactory season, especially towards the end. When fit, he is important in midfield. Anyone who wants to play has to make an effort. The same goes for Sadio. He can also prove himself. As for Neuer, he is part of Bayern, he is a world-class goalkeeper and he has won many titles with us. So needless to say, we have a lot of confidence in him. But regardless of that, we must also take responsibility for the situation. It will take us time to see how things will develop."

This was followed by the presentation of the new additions to the team Konrad Leimer and Rafael Guerreiro. The midfielder signed by Leipzig said: “I can play in many positions - as a defensive or attacking midfielder. I feel comfortable anywhere in midfield. I always give my best, competition doesn't scare me and will make everyone perform at their best. I'm just happy that things are starting now. We are training intensively, but we are still at the beginning". Asked about the goal he scored against Bayern in RB Leipzig's 3-1 away win, Laimer said: "It was a normal Bundesliga game. Even then I knew I was going to Munich. But then I just wanted to win for my team”.

Rafa Guerreiro said: "I have often played against Bayern, but I have rarely won, I think only twice. Now I'm happy to be here and wear the colors of the club. I can play several positions. My favorite position is left back. The coach has many choices, I respect his decision. I know him since my time in Dortmund, he trained many great players. After the end of the season I had to find a new club that matched my level and ambitions. When Bayern asked me, I agreed immediately. I like the style of play with a lot of possession. I spoke to Tuchel on the phone and he really showed me that he wants me in the team. It's a big chance for me to be at such a big club. My compatriot Joao Cancelo also encouraged me to come, he said only good things about the club and the city," concluded the 29-year-old Portuguese.
