A historic performance by Curry advances the Warriors to the West semifinals
Steph Curry scored a historic 50 points to lead the Golden State Warriors to a 120-100 victory over the Sacramento Kings in a decisive Game 7 between the two teams in the first round of the National Basketball Association (NBA) playoffs. With his 50 points, Curry broke the current record for most points by a player in a decisive game #7, which was held by his former teammate Kevin Durant.
Durant recorded his career high of 48 points as a Brooklyn Nets player in the 2020-2021 Eastern Conference Semifinals loss against the eventual champion Milwaukee Bucks. In addition to Curry, Andrew Wiggins (17), Klay Thompson (16) and Kevon Looney (11) also finished with double-digit points for the Warriors in the seventh game against the Kings.
Looney finished with a double-double as he had 21 rebounds in addition to his 11 points. For the home team from Sacramento, Domantas Sabonis was the top scorer with 22 points, while DeAaron Fox added 16. Keegan Murphy (10) and Malik Monk and Terence Davis, who joined the bench and finished with 14 points, also recorded double-digit points.
In the semifinals of the Western Conference, the Warriors team will face the Los Angeles Lakers of LeBron James and company, and the first match of the series is on Wednesday at 5:00 a.m. Bulgarian time. Home field advantage will go to the Warriors, who will host the first two games, as well as games #5 and #7, if it comes down to them.
