Ancelotti: A difficult match but with a good ending
Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti was delighted with the 3-1 success over arch-rivals Atletico Madrid in the quarter-finals of the Copa del Rey. He admitted that it was a tough game for his team, but he was happy that it all ended well.
"It was a tough game, very tough. The opposition played a great game but we responded well in the second half and in the end we got a good finish. I didn't need to raise the tone at half-time. It was clear that the tempo was slow and also we had a problem with the fact that Atlético play the ball well.
We started the second half strongly and the fans helped from the stands to get the equaliser. The season is very hard, even too much, but that's the way it is. We must struggle and suffer. All teams have injuries and there is nothing we can do but play. At the moment I'm happy and I'm only thinking about our next match," Ancelotti said.
He also commented on the bitch before the match when Atletico fans hung an effigy of Vinicius from a bridge. "Vinicius, as always, was only focused on the game. He wanted to play. What happened is unpleasant, but it is now behind our back," added the Italian.
