Ancelotti: We played a strong game but we were unlucky

Carlo Ancelotti hailed Real Madrid's performance in their La Liga Round of 19 tie against Real Sociedad and, despite the goalless draw, the Italian described his side's performance as one of the best of the season so far.

"It's a shame we didn't win because we played very well and deserved to win. We played a strong game, one of our best of the season, but we didn't have any luck. The team is improving and growing. Physically we are much better. The injured have started to return and we have confidence for the coming months.

We did very well in the game both with and without the ball. All we had to do was score, we were so close but we didn't make it. I am happy because the team played very well," said Ancelotti, quoted by the Spanish newspaper Marca.

After the draw, the "white ballet" are five points behind leaders Barcelona, while Real Sociedad sit comfortably in the top four of La Liga and are confidently on their way to earning a place in next season's Champions League.
