Andre Onana took the blame for Manchester United's loss

Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana has admitted he was the main culprit behind his side's Champions League defeat to Bayern Munich. The German side scored twice in four first-half minutes at the Allianz Arena to cruise to a 4-3 win in their Group A opener. A mistake by the Cameroon international allowed the hosts to open the scoring when he failed to make the save the ball after a shot by winger Leroy Sane. "It's hard to lose like that because we started very well at the beginning. After my mistake, we lost control of the game," Onana told TNT Sports.

"The situation is difficult and especially for me because I'm the one who disappointed everyone in the team. But the team was very good, it's just because of me they didn't win this game. Now we have to move on. That's the life of a goalkeeper and if we didn't win today , it's because of me," he added. "I have to learn from this and be strong. It's not easy, but I'm very happy for the team's return to the tournament. We fought until the end, but I have to admit that because of me we didn't win. I have a lot to prove , because to be honest, the start in Manchester is not as good as I want. Today was one of my worst games and it is difficult because we have big ambitions, we are a very big club and we want to win everything," said Onana.
