Andrea Pirlo is back in Italian football
Legendary midfielder Andrea Pirlo will be the new coach of relegated Sampdoria, reports Gianluca Di Marzio. After three meetings, the new club owner Andrea Radritsani managed to convince the young specialist to sign a contract for 2+1 years. The failure of negotiations with Fabio Grosso also helped the appointment of the former Italian international.
This will be the third team that the 44-year-old Pirlo will lead in his coaching career. He was in charge of Juventus in the 2020/21 season, when he won the Italian Cup and Supercoppa with the "Old Lady". The former midfielder then had a stint at Turkey's Fatih Karagümrük, where he also lasted just one campaign, leaving the team a month ago.
