Barcelona liked Julian Alvarez as Lewandowski's successor

Manchester City and Argentina forward Julian Alvarez is wanted by Barcelona. The Catalan giants are already planning their future after Robert Lewandowski, given that he is in his mid-30s and doesn't have much top-level football left. According to information from "Sport", coach Xavi Hernandez is a big fan of Alvarez and wants to have him in his team. It was he who gave the idea for his possible attraction in the future. Alvarez has not been a regular starter for City, coming in and out of the starting line-up, but has six goals and five assists in 13 games.

The forward is equally comfortable in a central attacking role as well as on the wings, while also being able to play alongside Erling Haaland. Barca have already secured the services of Brazilian wonderkid Vitor Roque, but are worried that Robert Lewandowski could leave for Saudi Arabia in January or next summer. This is also the main reason for the "Camp Nou" to consider options for his replacement, if this happens, as they have decided on Alvarez.
