Barcelona released a statement about Messi
After Lionel Messi announced his decision to continues his career at Inter Miami yesterday, Barcelona issued a special statement. It was published late last night on the official website of the Catalans with the announcement that with it the club wishes success to Messi in his new professional challenge.
However, the report emphasizes that the Argentine received an offer from Barcelona after declaring himself a desire to return to the Camp Nou, but ultimately decided to go to a league where the demands are not as high as in La Liga. According to some of the Barcelona fans, this statement is completely unnecessary, as in it the club shows a dose of disrespect to its legend.
Here is the full text of the statement:
"On Monday, June 5, Jorge Messi, the player's father and representative, informed the club's president, Joan Laporta, of the player's decision to join Inter Miami. This was despite the fact that he had an offer from Barca, based on the desire of both the football club, as well as Lionel Messi himself to wear the shirt of the "Blaugranas" again.
President Laporta understands and respects Messi's decision to wants to compete in a less demanding league, away from the limelight and pressure he has been under in recent years.
Joan Laporta and Jorge Messi have agreed to work together to organize a benefit in honor of the footballer, so that the fans will have the opportunity to pay their respects in the most appropriate way to the player who has always been and will always be loved by Barca."
