Canizares' son has signed a contract with Real Madrid

Real Madrid goalkeeper Lucas Canizares has signed a new contract with the club. Canizares is yet to play an official match for Real Madrid's representative team, but has been in the squad 10 times this season and was part of the squad that won the Club World Cup last month. The 20-year-old goalkeeper, who is the son of former Real Madrid and Spain international goalkeeper Santi Canizares, is the third goalkeeper in the squad behind Thibaut Courtois and Andrii Lunin.

Canizares was reportedly close to leaving the club in January to seek game minutes, but he confirmed on his Instagram page that a new contract had been signed. "I'm very happy to extend my contract with Real Madrid. I'm impatient to work and justify the trust. Go!", Canizares wrote.
