Chelsea and Southampton shook hands for Lavia
Chelsea have finally agreed with Southampton to sign Romeo Lavia. Fabrizio Romano informed that the two clubs have agreed on a transfer fee of 60 million pounds with bonuses. There is also agreement on the payment structure.
By the end of the week, the 19-year-old Belgian will undergo a medical and then sign with Chelsea. He has already accepted the personal terms offered to him. Southampton bought Lavia from Manchester City in 2022. Last season, the midfielder took part in 34 matches of the "Saints" in the Premier League, in which he scored 1 goal.
Chelsea fought off Lavia's signature with Liverpool before winning another transfer battle with the Merseysiders for Moises Caicedo. Brighton chief executive Paul Barber has admitted that the club had an agreement with Liverpool, but the deal fell through because of the player himself.
"Liverpool is a fantastic club that everyone would love to play for, but Moises and his representatives for some reason decided they preferred Chelsea. We found ourselves in a delicate situation because we had been negotiating with Liverpool for a long time and everything went very professionally. We understood, but then the player himself asked to go to Chelsea and we had to react quickly", explained Barber.
