Corey Sandhagen defeated Marlon Vera by decision in Texas

Corey Sandhagen eliminated Marlon Vera from the bantamweight title race. The two fighters headlined the UFC on ESPN 43 event, which took place recently in Texas. Sandhagen performed quite strongly and Vera was a faceless version of herself.

In the first two rounds, Corey outright ran over Vera. Sandhagen was able to take Vera to the ground and score a lot of hits on him. By the end of those two rounds, Corey had landed over 100 punches, while Vera had less than 25 punches to boast. In the third round, Vera woke up and showed aggression.

He was able to stop Sandhagen's takedown attempts. The two exchanged heavy blows, but Corey was one step ahead again. In the fourth round Corey was moving a lot and scoring. Marlon kept chasing him. Sandhagen tried to bring paint to the ground, but Vera defended herself. At the end of the round, Vera landed a good combination, which was his best of the round.

In the final round, Corey knocked Vera to the ground. Marlon stood up, but he just didn't have a clue in his game. Corey still kept moving, and Vera followed him, but it was obvious that she had no particular desire to win.

So time flew by and the fight came to a decision by the judges. To everyone's surprise, Sandhagen won, but by split decision - (47-48, 50-45, 49-46). This isn't much of a surprise, though, because the judges' judging was pretty controversial throughout the event.

With this victory, Sandhagen entered a streak of 2 consecutive victories. Vera, on the other hand, parted ways with a streak of 4 consecutive victories. Marlon is out of the title race and won't be getting a championship match anytime soon.
