Cristiano Ronaldo will be captain against PSG
Cristiano Ronaldo is set to play in Saudi Arabia for the first time since his move to Al-Nasser after being named captain of the Al-Nasser and Al-Hilal squad for Thursday's clash with Paris Saint-Germain.
The 37-year-old Portuguese will lead the team against Messi and company in a match that could be the last chapter of the rivalry between the two great footballers. The Saudi national team also includes Salem Al-Dawsari, who scored two goals in the sensational victory over Argentina at the World Cup championship in Qatar.
There were 2 million virtual ticket requests for the match, and a seat in the stadium's VIP area costs 10 million riyals ($2.66 million). Ronaldo missed Al-Nasser's first two home games because of his punishment by the English Football Association for broke a fan's phone at the Everton game in April.
The Portuguese striker arrived in Saudi Arabia earlier this month on a transfer until 2025, believed to earn him more than €200 million a year. Ronaldo is expected to make his debut for Al-Nasser in an official match against Al-Etifah on Sunday.
