Dallas Mavericks Luka Doncic is questionable for the start of the NBA season

Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic will miss the team's preseason game on Friday with a calf injury and is also questionable for the NBA season opener against the San Antonio Spurs on Oct. 25. The Slovenian injured himself in training in Madrid on October 9 and underwent an MRI after the team's return to Dallas. Mavericks coach Jason Kidd reassured reporters Monday that his condition was not serious, but added that he "will be reevaluated later in the week."

The day before the injury, Doncic played just five minutes, scoring 9 points in a shutout against his former team Real Madrid. The Spaniards won the match against Dallas with 127:123. Kidd also said guard Kyrie Irving is recovering well from his groin injury. "He's fine, we'll see how he is tomorrow and he'll move on," the coach said. Doncic is a four-time NBA All-Star, averaging 32.4 points, 8.6 rebounds and 8 assists in 66 games last season.
