Dani Alves will not be released on bail
The Spanish prosecutor's office opposes the appeal of the defense of Dani Alves to release him on bail while the investigation against the footballer continues on accusations of sexual assault, reports BTA.
Alves' lawyers filed the complaint last week, saying the Brazilian had agreed to surrender his passport and wear a tracking device if released. Alves will also report to the court and authorities as often as necessary, including daily, and will not come within 500 meters of the accuser, her home or workplace.
Prosecutors said Monday that Alves is at risk of absconding if he is released. The Brazilian was detained in January after being accused of sexually assaulting a woman in a nightclub on December 30. He denied any wrongdoing.
The judge ordered Alves to be remanded in custody at a prison outside the Catalan capital without bail after analyzing the initial investigation by authorities and hearing statements from the player, the alleged victim and witnesses.
