Daniel Cormier Jon Jones should not be #1 in the world

Jon Jones returned after a 3-year absence to defeat Cyril Gunn for the heavyweight title at UFC 285 on March 4 in Las Vegas. After the victory, Jones returned to the first place in the ranking, regardless of the category. Former two-division champion Daniel Cormier disagrees with the fact that Jones is #1.

It's not really a surprise that DC doesn't recognize Jones, who beat him 2 times in the past. Bones has been a nightmare for Cormier, with their feud being one of the biggest in UFC history. Daniel believes Alexander Volkanovski should be ranked No. 1 in the world despite losing to Islam Makhachev in the fight for lightweight gold.

“I think it's hard to call Jones the greatest of all time, especially with the steroids and the other situations. I personally don't think he should be #1 in the rankings, regardless of weight class. I think Alexander Volkanovski should stay at the top. I don't think Jones should be the number 1 fighter in the world. But I don't have a problem with that if the people voted that way," Cormier said at DC&RC.
