Danilo Gallinari extended his contract with the Boston Celtics

Boston Celtics wing Danilo Gallinari has exercised his right to extend his contract with the club for another year, US media reported. The 34-year-old Italian activated a clause that allows him to keep his contract through the 2023/24 season, for which he will receive a salary of $6.8 million.

Gallinari missed the entire 2022/23 season, which was supposed to be his first with Boston, after tearing the cruciate ligaments in his left knee last August during a World Cup qualifier.

In April 2013, Gallinari suffered the exact same injury and missed the entire 2013/14 season. The Italian has a total of 13 seasons in the National Basketball Association, averaging 15.6 points and 4.8 rebounds per game, playing for the New York Knicks, Denver Nuggets, Los Angeles Clippers, Oklahoma City Thunder and Atlanta Hawks.
