Eden Hazard ended his career for good
Former Chelsea and Real Madrid star Eden Hazard has officially ended his career at the age of 32. The Belgian has been without a team since the summer when his contract with the club was terminated after making just 76 appearances in all competitions over four seasons at Real, scoring just seven goals.
With the Whites, Hazard won the Champions League, the Club World Cup, the European Super Cup, two La Liga titles, one Copa del Rey and two Spanish Super Cups. His best period in terms of form, however, remains his time at Chelsea, where he scored 110 goals in 352 games, winning the Premier League title twice, the Europa League twice, the FA Cup once and the League Cup twice. With the Lille team, with which he broke through to big football, Hazard achieved a double in the 2010/11 season.
"You have to listen to yourself and say 'end' at the right moment. After 16 years and more than 700 games played, I have decided to end my career as a professional footballer. I had the opportunity to realize my dream after playing and having fun on many grounds around the world. During my career I have been fortunate to meet great managers, coaches and teammates. Thank you all for these wonderful moments. You're going to lick me.
I also want to thank the clubs I played for - Lille, Chelsea and Real Madrid, as well as the Belgian federation for being selected for the national team. Special thanks to my family, to my friends and advisors, and to all the people who have been there for me through good times and bad. Finally, I want to thank you, the fans, who have supported me all these years and encouraged me everywhere I play. Now is the time to enjoy time with my loved ones and new experiences. See you off the field soon, friends!
