Fans and policemen fight at a Second Bundesliga match

The match of the 13th round of the Second Bundesliga between St. Pauli and Hannover 96 was accompanied by incidents in the stands. The fans of the guests made a real melee in the sector of the stadium in which they were accommodated. Exactly ten minutes before the end of regular time, Hannover supporters got into a serious altercation with the police, with all sorts of objects flying at the law enforcement. For their part, the police used pepper spray against the rioting fans.

There were even fights and serious injuries to some of the fans. This forced the match to be stopped briefly, and both teams were taken off the field. A few minutes later, things calmed down in the stands and the match continued without any further problems, which eventually ended goalless with a score of 0:0. The tie left St. Pauli at the top of the standings with an asset of 27 points. Second is Hamburger SF with 24 points, and Hannover 96 is in third position with 22 points. In the relegation zone are Karlsruhe, Osnabrück and Eintracht (Braunschweig).
