Guardiola Holland is not to blame for the lack of goals
Erling Holland is not to blame for not being able to score in the last matches of the team as much as at the beginning of the season. This was stated by the manager of Manchester City, Josep Guardiola, at the press conference before the visit of Bournemouth.
Holland, 22, already has 32 goals to his name this season, but only one of those goals has come in the last six games. During the week, he was completely unremarkable on the pitch when RB Leipzig played in the round of 16 of the Champions League, which ended 1:1. However, according to Guardiola, the blame for this should be sought rather in his teammates.
"It's all our fault. Not Erling's. He's been good enough all season. I don't need stats to know that. A second after games I know who should have been more involved in the game and who was more than necessary," explained Guardiola.
"We need to look for Erling more. The position of center forward is the most difficult in football because you have two defenders for one player. In Erling's case even more. He is angry about this fact, so am I, but I can say that in this case, happiness is overrated," added the Spanish specialist.
For the visit of Bournemouth, midfielder Kevin de Bruyne is expected to return to the squad after illness, while defenders Aymeric Laporte and John Stones remain in hospital.
