Inter and Milan once again fill San Siro

The Milan giants Inter and AC Milan enjoy more and more fans at their home matches. In an analysis on the subject, "Gadzeta delo sport" draws attention to the noticeable growth in attendance at the matches of the two clubs last season. Inter and AC Milan have attracted almost 4 million supporters in matches across all competitions. In Europe, only Manchester United and Barcelona have gathered more fans in their households.

The data from the UEFA report outlines several interesting trends. Inter have had more support in Serie A and the Coppa Italia, and Milan have brought more supporters to the San Siro in Champions League matches. The leader in the ranking in terms of the total number of fans who visited the matches of the home championships is Barcelona. Over 1.6 million people visited the 19 home games of the Catalans in La Liga. Barça is also number 1 in the Champions League with a total of 584 fans attending matches at Camp Nou. In national cup matches, Manchester United is in first place with 660,000 fans.

In terms of average attendance, Serie A still lags behind the Premier League, Bundesliga and La Liga, but Italian clubs have seen the biggest increase in attendance since the Covid period. Inter's home matches were watched live by 1.97 million people, and Milan's by 1.86 million. The difference is 115 thousand people in favor of the Nerazzurri. On average, Milan's rivals are behind Borussia (Dortmund) and Bayern (Munich), who have gathered fewer spectators, but the reason is that the Bundesliga is 18 teams and the rounds are 34, not 38 as in Italy.

The increased attendance at Inter and Milan is mainly due to the strong performance of both teams. The Nerazzurri won the Italian Cup and Super Cup, and also reached the Champions League final, eliminating their city rival in the semi-finals. Roma's sixth place in the ranking among the teams with the most audiences in the 2022/23 season is indicative of the return of Italian fans to the stands.

In front of the "wolves" is Manchester City, followed by Bayern, Borussia (D), Real Madrid and West Ham. Liverpool is in 15th place, ahead of Tottenham, Arsenal, Celtic and Marseille. In the ranking by cities, the leaders are London and Manchester, and Milan is in third place. London's advantage comes from the fact that the English capital has 7 teams in the Premier League, and the difference between Manchester and Milan is due to the fact that City and United participate in one more tournament - the League Cup.
