Inter pressure Chelsea to drop Lukaku's price
Inter are trying to convince Chelsea to drop the price of striker Romelu Lukaku. The Belgian is currently on loan at the Nerazzurri until the summer, but the two clubs have a preliminary agreement that the lease can be extended for another year under certain conditions. It is them that the Italians want to renegotiate, "Tutosport" claims.
According to the preliminary agreement between the two clubs, Lukaku can stay another season at the San Siro if Inter pays 8 million euros in the summer, plus 3 more in bonuses. Although the price does not seem too high, Inter hope to bring it down.
Moreover, the 29-year-old footballer has not been of much use to the team so far, as he has been plagued by injuries and has only played 4 games as a starter and 4 more as a reserve.
Thus, the two clubs may find themselves in a rather complicated situation in the summer. Inter do not want to lose Lukaku as the club are currently in no position to invest in another striker of his calibre.
However, Chelsea are very reluctant to change the already agreed parameters, as the club needs every euro to meet the Financial Fair Play criteria, especially after the serious blunders it continues to make in the January transfer window.
In addition, the Blues will find it difficult to find another buyer for Lukaku, given his poor form. So there are some pretty tough negotiations ahead. The Belgian has a contract with the Londoners until 2026.
