Liverpool took a real hit with McAllister
Liverpool are hours away from officially announcing their first big transfer of the summer. It emerged yesterday that the Merseysiders have completed a deal for Brighton midfielder Alexis McAllister, who has become Jurgen Klopp's top transfer target after the club abandoned the idea of entering a battle for hugely expensive Jude Bellingham.
Already yesterday, Fabrizio Romano announced that the world champion will go to Liverpool much cheaper than previously thought. Until recently, the Anfield club were rumored to pay between £60m and £70m. However, it turned out that the release clause in McAllister's contract, again according to Romano, was between 45 and 50 million pounds. It is for this reason that Liverpool are pleased to have made a real splash with this transfer.
There are reports that Manchester United and Arsenal have also expressed their willingness to pay McAllister's release clause, but he has opted to move to Liverpool. The Reds are also in direct talks with the agents of Kefren Turan and Manu Kone, so very soon after the completion of the McAllister deal, the Merseysiders could acquire another midfielder, as Jurgen Klopp wants.
