Manchester United join the battle for Barella
Manchester United are continuing their search for a new central midfielder, with the club eyeing Inter playmaker Nicolo Barella. "The Red Devils" are ready to enter a battle for the signature of the 26-year-old football player, who is wanted by several other clubs from England, writes "Gadzeta delo Sport".
Barella was also in the transfer plans of Newcastle, but it seems that the Magpies will take Sandro Tonali from Milan and give him up. Liverpool are also interested in the Italian international, but the Merseysiders currently do not have particularly large financial opportunities. Thus, United have even emerged as favorites to sign the midfielder.
Inter will reportedly demand around €80 million for one of their most important players in recent years. However, United are willing to pay a similar fee, which is well short of West Ham's £115m demand for Declan Rice, another Red Devils midfield target.
Barella was brought to Inter from Cagliari in 2020 for 32.5 million euros. However, he quickly became an important player for the Nerazzurri. So far he has 187 appearances, 20 goals and 44 assists for the club, during which time he has won 1 title, 2 cups and 2 Italian Super Cups. In addition, he is also a national player of his country with 44 matches and 8 goals on his account, and with "Squadra Azzura" he also became European champion in 2021.
