Marseille are not giving up their pursuit of PSG


Marseille showed character and won 3-2 away to Toulouse in a match of the 24th round of Ligue 1. Igor Tudor's team achieved a sixth consecutive success on foreign soil and moved back to within 5 points of leaders Paris Saint-Germain, who on -earlier today pulled off a dramatic 4:3 win over Lille.

All the goals for OM came in the second half. Chancel Mbemba, Cengiz Yunder and Nuno Tavares were accurate. Earlier, the home side had taken an early lead through Tice Dalinga, but were unable to withstand Marseille's pressure. In the closing minutes, Ado Onaivu brought back the intrigue, but Toulouse could not avoid defeat and occupy 11th place in the standings.

The goal for Toulouse came as early as the 3rd minute when Mikel Dessler crossed from the right flank and Dallinga headed the ball into the net from close range. By the break, Marseille had a territorial advantage, but it was not backed up with serious chances in front of Maxime Duppe's goal. In the 52nd minute, however, the visitors equalized after a short mix-up and a shot under Mbemba's crossbar.

In the 59th minute, the defense of the hosts failed to deal with a cross from a corner and allowed Cengiz Yunder to shoot from the air. The Turkish international was as precise as possible and brought OM forward. In the 78th minute, Marseille left-back Nuno Tavares was once again in front and practically decided the match with a third goal, and Toulouse's forces only managed to get a goal from the reserve Onaivu shortly before the end of regular time.

In the next round, Toulouse will visit Reims and Marseille will host PSG in the most anticipated match in French football. The big derby is on February 26.
