Michael Jordan with a record donation on the occasion of his 60th anniversary
The great Michael Jordan decided to open his heart again on the occasion of his 60th birthday. The six-time NBA champion donated $10 million to the Make-A-Wish America Foundation. This is the largest donation ever made in the foundation's history. Jordan, who will turn 60 on Friday, hopes others will follow his example.
"Michael used his birthday as an opportunity to make Make-A-Wish history, which speaks to the quality of his character and dedication to making the lives of children with critical illnesses better," said Leslie Motter, president and CEO of the foundation.
This isn't the first time the Charlotte Hornets owner has helped out the organization. Before that, he donated funds in 1989, and since 2008 he has been announced as an ambassador. Make-A-Wish America was founded in 1980 in Phoenix and aims to help children ages 2.5 to 18 who suffer from critical illnesses.
