Mourinho has targeted a Liverpool defender
Roma manager Jose Mourinho continues to look to England for new signings. The Portuguese specialist has targeted Liverpool defender Joel Matip for the Wolves' summer selection, Forza Roma reveals.
The 31-year-old Cameroonian lost his starting place in Jurgen Klopp's starting line-up this season. He has made just 11 Premier League starts and is hardly happy with the little playing time he is getting. It is because of this that Mourinho hopes to convince him to change the environment and go to Olimpico.
Matip's contract runs until 2024, so in the summer Liverpool should consider whether now is not a good time to sell him in order to get a good transfer fee for him. It is said that a similar option is already being considered, with "Anfield" ready to release him with an offer of around 15 million euros.
However, Roma could face competition for the Cameroonian's signature. Two other Italian clubs are said to be monitoring the situation with the defender. It is about Juventus and Milan. If the "wolves" fail to agree on his transfer, the club has another option in the person of Evan N'Dika from Eintracht (Frankfurt).
