New champion Strickland also received a bonus for his victory

Newly crowned UFC 84-pound champion Sean Strickland is one of four UFC 293 fighters to earn a $50,000 bonus. The American defeated Israel Adesanya in a five-round championship bout. The 32-year-old fighter pressed his opponent for most of the fight. His strongest moment came late in the first round when Adesanya was knocked down after a heavy right hook to the chin.

Strickland had a chance to end the fight then, but the gong saved the now former champion. Justin Tafa also received an additional bonus for his victory over Austin Lane by TKO in the first round. Flyweights Manel Cape and Felipe Dos Santos shared $100,000 as they produced a spectacular clash that won Fight of the Night.
