Newcastle are close to signing Harvey Barnes

Newcastle are close to signing Leicester winger Harvey Barnes. The two clubs have already reached an agreement in principle for the transfer, and the footballer himself has said "yes" and specified his personal terms with the "magpies", reports "Telegraph". It remains for St James's Park to submit the official offer, which will happen within days, after which the transfer can be finalised.

Leicester wanted 40 million pounds for this player, but according to the latest information, a compromise has been reached and Newcastle will pay 35 million. Barnes himself has also accepted the Magpies' offer as he is excited about the opportunity to play in the Champions League.

Barnes, 25, is a product of the Leicester academy and has become an important figure for the team in recent years, with 187 appearances, 45 goals and 32 assists to his name. He also reached the national team of England, for which he has 1 match.

Leicester have been unable to keep hold of their stars since the club's relegation from the Championship and Barnes will be the next important player to leave the King Power Stadium after Youri Tielemans and James Maddison. There was also interest in the winger from Tottenham and Aston Villa, but it seems that he preferred the Magpies' offer.
