Nori took revenge on Alcaraz and won the title in Rio de Janeiro

Cameron Norrie defeated Carlos Alcaraz 5-7, 6-4, 7-5 in the final of the men's tennis tournament in Rio de Janeiro to avenge his Spanish rival for the title match defeat in Argentina a week ago.

Alcaraz, the No. 1 seed, reached the tenth final of his professional tennis career and got off to a great start. He received as many as seven break opportunities in the first set, converting the last one for 7:5 after 59 minutes of play.

Alcaraz opened the second set with two successful games of his own serve and a break between them, but the Spaniard needed a medical timeout and returned to the court with a bandaged right thigh and in visible discomfort. Norrie took advantage and recorded three breaks the rest of the set to tie the score.

The two exchanged two breaks at the beginning of the third set and reached 5:5, and the 11th game was one of the longest in the match. Nori was given four opportunities to break again and eventually got it, then closed out the match with his second match point on his own serve. Thus, Nori won the fifth title of his career and the first against a tennis player from the top 10 in the world ranking.
