Official: Italian takes over Spartak (Moscow)

Spartak (Moscow) has officially announced the appointment of its new fearsome coach Paolo Vanoli. The 49-year-old specialist replaces the Portuguese Rui Vitoria, who parted ways with the club a few days ago. Vanoli's contract with the "red and whites" is until the end of the 2022/23 season with an option for another year.

Vanoli is a former assistant coach of the Italian national team, as well as a former assistant to Antonio Conte at Chelsea. He last worked at Inter.

As a footballer, Vanoli has played for a number of teams, including Venice, Verona, Parma, Fiorentina, Bologna and Rangers.

Spartak (Moscow) is currently only ninth in the ranking of the Russian Premier League, 15 points behind leader Zenit and 8 from third in Sochi.
