Onana defended Garnacho, who scored an own goal on social media

Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana has backed team-mate Garnacho, saying he should not be punished for using emoticons in a social media post, Reuters reported. Garnacho, 19, included a gorilla emoticon in a post with a photo of himself and the save of the goalkeeper's impressive stoppage-time penalty  FC Copenhagen in the Champions League.

The Argentine later deleted his message, but English media reported that the Football Association was investigating the matter. "People can't judge what I might be offended by. I know exactly what Garnacho meant - strength and power. There should be no consequences for that," Onana wrote. Garnacho no commented on his deleted message. Manchester United beat Copenhagen 1-0 with Harry Maguire's header, but Onana saved his side in stoppage time by saving Jordan Larsson's penalty.
