Real Madrid lost a lawsuit for 400 million euros

The Spanish giant Real Madrid has lost a case for 400 million euros, which it led against the investment fund from Abu Dhabi Mubadala, reports Reuters, quoted by BTA. The case was brought after the collapse of a deal between the two sides in 2014, under which Mubadala was to acquire the naming rights to Real's Santiago Bernabeu stadium for a period of 20 years, with the proceeds used to renovate the facility.

The deal between Real and the Mubadala fund, which in 2014 was called the International Oil Investment Company, was stopped in 2015 by a court in Madrid, which opposed the football club's plans to renovate the stadium. In 2017, Real agreed with the municipality of Madrid on a new renovation plan and demanded the agreed financing from Mubadala, but according to the court, the statute of limitations for the contract had expired.
