Ronaldinho creates a World Street Soccer League
Brazilian soccer legend Ronaldinho launched the World Street Soccer League as an opportunity to give talented young lads a chance to show off their skills with a ball at their feet and follow the same path as the former Barcelona star, the Associated Press reports.
"Ronaldinho World Street League" will start at the end of 2023, the organizers of the project announced. Initially, the League in question will offer a social media stage where street soccer players of all ages can upload their best skills and tricks in an attempt to join one of the competition's teams.
Once the talents from such videos are selected, teams will be organized. Matches between the teams in question and individual competitions for qualities will be organized in major cities around the world. Teams will compete in a league for the title of "RGSL Champions".
And now the best players in general from the entire league will be selected in a single representative team, which will be called the Ronaldinho Globe Street Team. "We believe there's a huge opportunity in that. And we think we can support people who have football qualities.
Such an opportunity comes once in a lifetime and we can give a boost to the future of many talents around the world," Ronaldinho announced when announcing the project. There are currently no details on the likely location of the events or the exact start time.
Two-time world champion Ronaldinho also revealed that he has contacted former footballer and current agent Roberto de Aziz Moreira and Sophie Watts, founder of Mike Tyson's League of Legends, to help launch the Street Soccer League venture. "Ronaldinho and I grew up in a poor community in Brazil. We know first hand the power of street football and we know the power it had on young people in our time.
That's why we decided to dedicate ourselves entirely to the discovery and promotion of young players from all over the world through the project we call the Ronaldinho World Street League", commented Roberto de Aziz Moreira for his part.
