Ronaldo I am proud to become a world record holder
Cristiano Ronaldo sets two hugely important career records during Portugal's Euro 2024 qualifier against Liechtenstein. The former Real Madrid, Juventus and Manchester United striker recorded his 197th cap at domestic level, making him the player with the most caps at domestic level of all time.
At the beginning of the second half, he also scores two goals, which rounded his tally to 100 goals for the national team in international matches. An achievement that no other player in world football had done until now.
After the meeting, Ronaldo said that he was proud of what he had done. "It's great to be playing again and scoring for the national team, and in such a special stadium for me. I am proud to become a world record holder in matches for the national team," Ronaldo wrote on his Twitter account.
The Portugal forward did not playies the entire match for his side in the Iberians' 4-0 win against Liechtenstein. He impressed as a starter and was replaced in the 78th minute by Gonzalo Ramos.
