Serbin took over the Toronto Raptors

The Toronto Raptors of the National Basketball Association of the USA and Canada (NBA) appointed Serbian Darko Rajkovic as the new head coach, the club announced. The 44-year-old will replace Nick Nurse, who was released in April after five years with the team and one title win.

"We are starting a new era and we need new ideas. However, the goal remains the same - to win," said club president Masai Ujiri. "Darko's goals are the same. He is a seasoned professional who gets the job done. His dedication to basketball is amazing and we are excited to now have the opportunity to welcome him to the Raptors family."

The Serbian Rajkovic began his career in Europe before taking charge of the G-League's Tulsa 66ers in 2012. He was an assistant with the Oklahoma Thunder between 2014 and 2019, then had stints with the Phoenix Suns and Memphis Grizzlies.
