Simone Inzaghi: We are bitter
Simone Inzaghi severely criticized the VAR system and referee Daniele Kiffi, who officiated the match between Inter and Juventus in the 27th round of the Italian Serie A, won by the team from Turin with the minimum 1:0. The referee of the Nerazzurri emphasized the play with the hand of Adrien Rabiot and defined it as unacceptable.
"The feeling is bitter and disappointing after this defeat that happened in this way. We conceded a goal which is unacceptable in the VAR era. It is even more unacceptable and disrespectful to hear them say that there is no clear footage. We are bitter," Inzaghi told the Italian media DAZN.
The Inter team dominated the possession of the ball in the match at the Giuseppe Meazza stadium and seriously threatened Wojciech Szczesny on several occasions, but in the end the alumni were unpleasantly surprised after a counterattack.
"We've played against Juventus many times, we knew they would be dangerous on the counter-attack as that's their main threat. We made more mistakes than usual, but here we are talking about a game that was decided by a referee error and slowed down our progress. The boys saw what happened on the pitch but they did very well and stayed focused in the second half despite the circumstances," added Inzaghi.
The loss was the third overall in the last 4 matches for Inter and left the team in third place. Juventus, on the other hand, are on course to do something amazing as they moved to within 7 points of the top 4 and are very likely to enter the battle for next season's Champions League quotas by the end of the season despite the punishment they took at the start of the astronomical year from the asset of the team 15 points.
However, that's not all the thriller between Inter and Juventus this season, as the two teams have yet to meet in a reverse away clash in the semi-finals of the Coppa Italia. The first leg is on April 4 (Tuesday) in Turin, and the second leg in Milan is on April 26 (Wednesday).
