Super Nole beats Ben Shelton to reach US Open final

Novak Djokovic continued his excellent form and advanced to the final of the US Open, defeating host Ben Shelton 6-3 6-2 7-6(4) in their quarter-final encounter. The match lasted 2 hours and 24 minutes, with the two tennis players exchanging five aces each, Djokovic made 5 double faults, while his American opponent made only three mistakes. However, this did not help Shelton and he had to accept the elimination, which was the most logical after the bad start and the lost first two sets.

Nole felt the fatigue in the final third set, even coming close to defeat, trailing 4:5 game, but after a quick break brought things to 6:5. The Serbian then served but lost the serve and the set had to be decided by a tiebreak, where he once again demonstrated his superiority and won convincingly 7:4. Novak Djokovic will play in the US Open final against the winner of the other semi-final pair between Carlos Alcaraz and Daniil Medvedev, who go head-to-head in the wee hours of today, September 9 (Saturday).
