The FA can punish Sterling after a shot by Chelsea

Chelsea winger Raheem Sterling could be fined by the Football Association for throwing an object back into the crowd that fans had previously sent onto the pitch during the emotional derby with Tottenham earlier this week. The incident took place shortly after Cole Palmer's penalty goal which Chelsea equalised. The former City man expressed his joy to the Tottenham fans, along with some of his team-mates.

An object is thrown at them, which Sterling then picks up from the ground and throws back into the stands. Interestingly, the FA drew attention to this moment after a clip posted by Chelsea on the club's TikTok channel. Richarlison was previously banned for one match for blowing smoke into the stands in May 2022 while still playing for Everton. In 2008, Didier Drogba received a three-match ban for throwing a coin back into the fans during a Carabao Cup match against Burnley.
