Oklahoma City has prepared a plan to build a new hall in the center of the city for the NBA team - Oklahoma City Thunder, ESPN reports. The team has committed to playing in its new venue for at least 25 years. According to estimates, the cost of the arena will be no less than 900 million dollars, with the management of the Thunder contributing 50 million to a part of it.
A recent study estimated the economic impact of a local franchise at $600 million plus 3,000 jobs created. The Thunder currently play at the 21-year-old Paycom Center since moving to Oklahoma City in 2008. The idea is for the hall to open its doors for the 2029/30 season.
