The shock losses of AC Milan and Juventus set a number of precedents

Italian giants Milan and Juventus suffered shock losses in the 20th round of Serie A. The Rossoneri were beaten 2-5 by Sassuolo at home, and the Bianconeri went down 2-0 to newcomers Monza for their first home league defeat of the season. These surprising and painful defeats set a number of precedents for both clubs' performances over the years.

For the first time since March 21, 1993, AC Milan and Juventus lost home games in the domestic elite on the same day. On the previous occasion, the Devils were beaten 0-1 by Parma, while Juventus suffered a 0-2 defeat in the derby against Inter.

In their previous match, the Rossoneri were beaten 0:4 by Lazio. This means that for the first time in the club's history they have conceded four goals in two consecutive league games.

Three of Sassuolo's goals came in the first 30 minutes of the match. Milan last conceded three goals before half an hour had passed in their league match on 24 March 1974 in a derby with Inter.

The Neroverde also became the first team in Serie A history to have five different away goalscorers against the Devils. They are Grégoire Defrel, Davide Fratesi, Domenico Berardi, Armand Lorient and Matheus Enrique.

This is the third loss in a row for Milan in all competitions. Something that had not happened to the team under Stefano Pioli. The last time the team suffered three consecutive defeats was in September 2019, when its coach was Marco Giampaolo.

For Juventus, it was the second championship loss during the campaign against newcomers Monza. Thus, the "Biancoros" became only the second team to win their first two matches against the "Old Lady" in the Italian elite. The only other club to do so was Inter in 1930.

Only four teams have managed to avoid losing both of their games against the Bianconeri in their debut season at the Calciotto: Avellino (1978/79), Cagliari (1964/65), Catania (1954/55) and now Monza. Also, only the Sardinians had managed to keep a clean sheet in both of their meetings with Juventus as rookies before Silvio Berlusconi's club did the same.
