They determined the ideal teams in the NBA - Jokic is not in the first at the expense of Embiid
Milwaukee Bucks basketball player Giannis Antetokounmpo and Boston Celtics' Jayson Tatum have been selected to the National Basketball Association's (NBA) All-Star Team for the 2022/2023 season.
The pair topped the voting, with Antetokounmpo receiving 100 votes for the top five from the panel of journalists and media industry representatives. Tatum finished second with 92 first-team votes in the rankings, as well as eight second-team votes. Giannis Antetokounmpo was selected for the seventh time in the selection of the best in the NBA, and Tatum for the fifth time.
In 63 games on the season, the 28-year-old Greek national averaged a career-best 31.1 points, plus averages of 11.8 rebounds and 5.7 assists. However, the end of the season was sad for Antetokounmpo and his Milwaukee teammates, who were eliminated by the Miami Heat in the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs.
The 25-year-old American Tatum averaged 30.1 points, 8.8 rebounds and 4.6 assists during the regular season, and in all three indicators it was his highest performance to date. Boston is on the brink of elimination after losing 2-3 to Philadelphia in the Eastern Conference semifinals.
In addition to Giannis Antetokounmpo and Jayson Tatum, the most valuable player in the league Joel Embiid from Philadelphia (for the fifth time, 87 votes), Shay Gilges-Alexander from Oklahoma City (for the first time, 63) and Luka Doncic were selected in the ideal five of the NBA from Dallas (for the fourth time, 60). Embiid and Doncic had the best regular-season averages of 33.1 points and 32.4 points, respectively, and Gilgeous-Alexander was fourth with a 31.4 average.
In his first season with his new team, Cleveland, Donovan Mitchell received 45 first-team All-NBA votes, but finished with a spot on the second team along with two-time MVP Nikola Jokic of Denver, Steph Curry of Golden State, Jimmy Butler of Miami and Boston's Jaylen Brown.
The Sacramento Kings announced three basketball players for the third team for the 2022/2023 NBA season - De'Aaron Fox and Domantas Sabonis. For both players, it was the first time they were in one of the league's best selections. Portland's Damian Lillard, New York Knicks' Julius Randle and Los Angeles Lakers' LeBron James also made the third team.
James has the most top-five picks in the NBA with 19. Other big-name players also received votes but were not selected, such as Memphis' Ja Morat, Utah's Lauri Markkanen, Phoenix's Kevin Durant and Devin Booker, and Phoenix's Anthony Davis Los Angeles Lakers.
