Timber has been left out of Arsenal's Champions League squad
Arsenal defender Jurien Timber was unexpectedly left out of Mikel Arteta's 25-man squad for the Champions League group stage matches. The Dutchman tore cruciate ligaments in his right knee back in mid-August and will have to recover for about half a year.
However, he could be included in January, when the list could be updated should Arsenal skip the group stage. Instead of Timber, veteran Cedric Soares and 18-year-old defenseman Lino Sousa are on the roster. The rest of the summer signings - Declan Rice, Kai Havertz and David Raya are logically registered for the Champions League matches, the first of which is against PSV Eindhoven on 20 September.
