Stefanos Tsitsipas made a comeback against Dominic Thiem to win a tiebreak in the final set of their match at the Masters 1000 tennis tournament in Madrid. The Greek competitor prevailed 3:6, 6:3, 7:6(5) after an impeccable service performance.

"39 is really a lot and it shows that today I took a step forward in my serve. For me it's positive because that way I felt calm. That's how I managed to stay focused until the end," he said, quoted by ATP. Tsitsipas' next opponent will be 25th seed Sebastian Baez of Argentina.
Dominic Thiem recorded an early break in the first set and led 4:1, then closed the set with ease. However, Tsitsipas dominated the second thanks to his perfect serve. He recorded breaks in the second and sixth games, then won the seventh 0 for a final 6-1.
The third set went to a tiebreak in which Tsitsipas was able to serve for the match at 4:6, but failed to win the point. However, he instantly reached a mini-break and closed the set on a second match point.
