Turn in the negotiations between Liverpool and Borussia (Dortmund) for Jude Bellingham

In the late hours of yesterday 11th April (Tuesday) there was a change in the negotiations between Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund for the signature of Jude Bellingham. Earlier in the day, journalist Jan Ooge Fjortoft had reported that the Merseysiders had made an offer for the English midfielder, but shortly afterwards it became clear that Anfield had withdrawn from the race for the 19-year-old midfielder.

The England international has been the club's top transfer target up to this point, with Jurgen Klopp and his staff preparing to reshuffle their squad following a disappointing season. It has been suggested that the massive funds that should have gone to Bellingham were diverted to another purpose.

The price of the deal was considered prohibitive after Borussia (Dortmund) demanded 130 million pounds. That amount would have taken a significant chunk of Klopp's inbound transfer funds, which would not have been the ideal investment for Liverpool given the fact that the team are set to miss out on next season's Champions League.
