UFC fighter reports failed doping test
UFC welterweight Daniel Rodriguez has announced that he tested positive for doping and is pulling out of his fight against Santiago Ponzinibbio, which was scheduled for September 16 in Las Vegas.
On his Instagram profile, Rodriguez shared that he tested positive for the presence of ostarine in his body. He adds that there is a low level of the banned substance in the sample. However, ostarine is banned from use at any time by the training of professional fighters. Rodriguez, 36, claims he did not know he had taken doping.
"I strongly believe that the reason for the positive test is a contaminated supplement. I am working with my manager and the UFC to uncover the truth about the case. They need to look at and test the supplements I am taking," said Rodriguez.
The US Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) has not publicly announced the MMA fighter's positive test. In previous similar cases, information about positive tests has been published on USADA's official website. Representatives of the American media mmafighting.com have tried to contact USADA for comment on the Rodriguez case, but were unsuccessful.
