Unbreakable! Leo Messi on the verge of another trophy!

The team of Inter Miami qualified for the final of the tournament for the Cup of the USA after a victory on penalties against the team of Cincinnati. After 120 minutes of playing time, the match ended with a score of 3:3, and David Beckham's club triumphed with 5:4 in the performances from the penalty spot.

The match will be remembered as the first in which Lionel Messi did not score in regular time. That could definitely prove to be a negative for the Argentine star's side as Cincinnati took a 2-0 lead with goals from Luciano Acosta (18') and Brendan Vazquez (53').

However, Messi did something far more valuable than garnering glory at the expense of his goals, proving himself to be a true captain and team player, assisting both of Inter Miami's goals to equalize and send the match into double 15-minute extra time. Both goals were scored by Leonardo Campana (68', 90'+7').

In the first added time, the top scorer Campana followed Messi's example and himself assisted Josep Martinez (93'), who made the complete turnaround. However, the Cincinnati players had not said their last word and the 29-year-old Japanese Yuya Kubo (114') restored the tie and sent the match into a new phase.

In the penalty shootout, Lionel Messi already demonstrated his undisputed goalscoring aura and scored the opening penalty kick. His example was followed by the next three performers - Farias, Ruiz, Martinez. Cincinnati's players also showed steely nerves and moved closely to the fourth penalty behind Inter Miami with goals from Kubo, Arias, Santos and Miazga.

In the final fifth performance, however, Haglund made a mistake and gave David Beckham's team a chance to reach the final success. That's exactly what happened with the next penalty taken by Kremaski, who was unerring and sent his team to another final just days after the League Cup was clinched.

This means that Messi can very soon lift the historic 45th trophy in his career. Inter Miami will face the winner of the other semi-final pairing between Houston Dynamo and Real Salt Lake in a US Cup title battle. The grand final is to be played on September 27th (Wednesday).
